CRAFT for Claude Cowork · Free Public Beta
The Founding Chef window now closes December 31, 2026. Here’s the honest history of the old date — and why it needed correcting.
The short version
The CRAFT for Claude Cowork Beta — and the Founding Chef sign-up window with it — is extended from September 1 to December 31, 2026. Nothing else changes: the framework is free during the Beta, there’s still no login, no paywall, and no email gate, and anything you download stays yours to use.
I could leave it at that. But CRAFT is built in the open, and the reason for the change is worth telling straight, because the old date was never really a deadline at all.
Where September 1 actually came from
I set that date back in late 2025, when the CRAFT Beta was a different product built for a different tool — CRAFT for Claude online, in three flavors. The date was reasonable for that product, on that plan, at that time.
Then, in early 2026, I started working with Claude Cowork — and I recognized almost immediately that it was where CRAFT belonged. In March I went all-in: I stopped work on the original flavors and rebuilt the framework for Cowork from the ground up. I haven’t regretted that decision for a second. But rebuilding takes time, and the rebuild quietly consumed the calendar the old date was sitting on.
Along the way I also made the Beta radically simpler to try: around May I dropped the membership requirement entirely, so no one has to sign up for anything just to use CRAFT. The version you can download today — the real, current product — effectively launched in late June 2026, alongside the Getting Started tutorial series.
The problem with the old date
So here’s the honest arithmetic: a sign-up window set in 2025 for a product that no longer exists, never re-derived after everything underneath it changed, closing about ten weeks after the current product actually launched. That’s not a capacity plan — that’s a leftover. And I’d rather correct a leftover in public than let it quietly pressure anyone.
The correction
I’ve re-derived the window from the actual June launch instead of the original plan: the Founding Chef sign-up window now closes December 31, 2026.
What that date means is the same as before — only the date itself moved. When the window closes, the Founding Chef sign-up closes; that’s all. The framework keeps working, and everything you’ve downloaded stays yours under the terms it had when you got it.
✓ What stays exactly the same: free during the Beta · no login, no paywall, no email gate · downloads are yours to keep · your feedback reaches the builder directly.
The same straight talk as always
Signing up as a Founding Chef is recognition — a permanent record that you were here while CRAFT was being shaped, and a direct line for your feedback. Whether it will include other benefits later still isn’t decided, and I’m not going to promise a perk I haven’t fully worked out. If that changes, I’ll say so plainly, here.
Housekeeping: you may still see September 1 in a few corners of the site while I update the pages over the next day or two. December 31, 2026 is correct. If you spot an old date after that, tell me through the site’s feedback form — it reaches me directly.
