If you’d rather be shown than read, CRAFT has a tutorial mode — a guided, instructor-led walkthrough that does a tiny real task with you, saves it, and shows you how your work comes back next time. Turn it on when you want a hand, off when you’re ready to fly solo.
Tutorial mode is a simple switch — just like personalization. You turn it on or off, and it stays where you set it from one session to the next.
Turning it on
Start the tutorial.
I’m new — guide me.
Tutorial mode switches on (and stays on across sessions until you turn it off), and Claude steps into instructor mode to lead you through your first session, one friendly step at a time:
- It sets expectations — “about five minutes, stop anytime.”
- You pick one tiny, real task together.
- You do it.
- Claude saves a handoff.
- Claude shows you how the next session picks it up — the moment CRAFT “clicks.”
While it’s on, Claude greets you with the guided lessons each time you start, so you’re never dropped in cold. You can also ask for the pieces on their own: “What is CRAFT?” for a one-minute explainer, or “Show me in 60 seconds” for a quick proof.
Turning it off (back to normal)
When you’ve found your feet, switch it off:
I’m done with the tutorial.
Let’s work normally now.
✓ You’ll know it worked when the guided lessons go quiet and you’re back to a normal CRAFT session. Nothing is lost — anything you did is already saved — and you can turn it back on anytime. Off is the default, and a fully respected state.
Even with it off, the tutorial is one sentence away: just ask “walk me through CRAFT” or “what is CRAFT?” whenever you want a refresher — or to show someone else.
Where the setting lives
Your on/off choice is saved in tutorials/TUTORIAL-MODE-SETTINGS.md — a plain file you can read anytime. You never edit it by hand; “turn on / turn off tutorial mode” does it for you. (It works exactly like the personalization switch, just for the guided lessons.)
When to use it: turn it on for your very first sessions, or any time you want a guided hand — or want to show CRAFT to someone else. Turn it off once the basics feel natural, and flip it back on whenever you like.
🎉 That’s the Getting Started series
You made it through the whole thing. You can now:
- Install Cowork and start a project — your own CRAFT workspace.
- Start, end, and continue a CRAFT session — work that picks up where you left off.
- Run recipes — just describe what you want.
- Call personas and do research — the right help, kept in your project.
- Start a subproject, use the cheatsheet, and switch tutorial mode on or off — everything you need for real, ongoing work.
Ready to go further? When you want to use recipes from CRAFTFramework.ai, build your own, back up to GitHub, or work across devices, that’s the Advanced material. But you already have everything you need to do real work today — so go make something.
