CRAFT includes dozens of recipes across multiple cookbooks. This guide helps you find the right recipe for your task โ whether you know exactly what you need or you’re just getting started.
The Fastest Way: Just Ask #
You don’t need to memorize recipe names. Simply describe what you want to accomplish:
I need to write a project proposal.
Help me analyze this data and find patterns.
I want to create a detailed persona for my marketing project.
The AI will suggest an appropriate recipe. In Express and Studio, you’ll see something like:
This sounds like a Document-Creator task. Want me to use that recipe? (Y/N)
In Foundations, Julia will explain what the recipe does before asking if you’d like to proceed.
Understanding Recipe Organization #
Recipes are organized into cookbooks by category:
| Cookbook | Contains Recipes For |
|---|---|
| Core Cookbook | Session management, handoffs, basic operations โ the fundamentals |
| Beginner’s Cookbook | Simplified versions with extra guidance (Foundations only) |
| Brand Identity Cookbook | Brand development, audience analysis, messaging, positioning |
| Content & Promo Cookbook | Content creation, marketing materials, promotional assets |
You don’t need to specify which cookbook โ the AI searches across all available cookbooks.

List recipes for writing tasks.
Get Recipe Details #
To learn more about a specific recipe:
Tell me about the Research-Brief recipe.
What does Document-Creator do? What parameters does it need?
Recipe Recommendations #
Ask for suggestions based on your situation:
I'm working on a marketing campaign. What recipes might help?
What's the best recipe for creating a project proposal?
Recipe Selection Tips #
Match Recipe to Task Scope #
| Task Scope | Recipe Approach |
|---|---|
| Quick, single task | Use a single focused recipe |
| Multi-step process | Use a multi-recipe workflow (recipes that chain together) |
| Exploratory work | Start with a broad recipe, then narrow down |
Don’t Over-Recipe #
Not everything needs a recipe. For simple questions or quick tasks, just ask directly:
What's the capital of France?
No recipe needed โ just ask.
When to Skip the Recipe #
Skip recipes when:
- You have a simple, one-off question
- You’re having a casual conversation
- The task is too unique for any standard recipe
Use recipes when:
- You want consistent, structured output
- You’re doing something you’ll repeat
- You need comprehensive coverage of a topic
Multi-Recipe Workflows #
Some complex tasks use multiple recipes in sequence. For example, the Brand Identity workflow:
| Step | Recipe | Output |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Brand-Context-Initializer | Business context block |
| 2 | Target-Audience-Analyzer | Audience personas |
| 3 | Value-Prop-Crafter | Value propositions |
| 4 | Messaging-Framework | Complete messaging guide |
Each recipe’s output feeds into the next. To use a workflow:
I want to develop my brand identity. Can we use the brand workflow?
The AI will guide you through each recipe in sequence.
Troubleshooting #
“The AI suggested a recipe I don’t want.”
Just say no and explain what you’re actually looking for:
No, I don't need a full document. I just want to brainstorm ideas.
“I can’t find a recipe for my task.”
Describe your need โ the AI may suggest an alternative or combine approaches:
I need something that does X but also Y. What are my options?
“The recipe is asking for information I don’t have.”
Most recipe parameters are optional. Just provide what you have:
I don't have budget numbers yet. Skip that for now.
